Installation
Can I install the cooker hood myself?
Installation of the hood and filter should be carried out by a qualified technician. Tampering or installation by an unqualified technician may invalidate the product warranty.
How can I request professional installation of the cooker hood?
Tick the “I require the installation service” option when you purchase the hood and you will be contacted by a technician to arrange the installation date.
What width should I choose for my hood?
The hood width must never be less than the width of the hob beneath it.
What distance should I leave between the cooker hood and a gas hob?
The installation distance is shown in your cooker hood instruction manual. Installing it closer than the specified minimum distance will invalidate the warranty and put the user at risk.
Where can I purchase replacement grease filters?
To purchase activated carbon filters and grease filters contact the manufacturer directly using the form for each model on our website www.galvamet.it
Operation
What should I do if my cooker hood has no suction or insufficient suction?
First, establish whether the problem is due to the hood itself or due to incorrect installation, as is often the case. Next, check that the metal grease filters are clean: dirty filters significantly reduce the cooker hood’s suction capacity.
If the problem persists, contact your local service center.
My cooker hood is too noisy.
If the noise sounds mechanical, disconnect any ducts connected to the hood and check for objects that may have fallen into the motor resulting in interference with the fan blades.
For hoods built into wall units, noise can often be caused by the hood transmitting vibration to the wall unit. Check with your installer to make sure the product is installed correctly.
Droplets of moisture tend to form on the underside of my hood and on the filters.
Condensation forms mainly when a hood is installed above an induction hob. This is normal and is not due to a product defect. Unlike gas hobs, induction hobs only heat the pans containing the food and not the surrounding air, so the surfaces of the cooker hood remain cold. As hot cooking vapors rise, they meet the cold surfaces of the hood and release the moisture they contain, which quickly turns into water droplets.
The indicator lights on my cooker hood are flashing, do I need to call for technical support?
Most Galvamet products have electronic controls with indicator lights that flash to alert users that the metal grease filters need cleaning. These warnings must be reset when they appear or they will remain after the appliance is switched off. To reset the warning signal, follow the instructions in the manual.
How long should I leave the hood with filter running? Why can I still smell cooking odors?
As soon as you start preparing food (about 15 minutes before you switch on the burners/rings), switch on the cooker hood at minimum power level. Air is now flowing through the hood.
When you have finished cooking, do not switch off the hood immediately. It is good practice to leave the hood running for 10-15 minutes (depending on the size of your kitchen), so that the filter can continue to remove residual odors.
The filter is connected correctly but cooking odors remain.
Check the grease filter in the cooker hood. If the grease filter is cleaned insufficiently, cooking odors may persist in the room. Check your cooker hood manual for grease filter cleaning instructions. In many cases the manual will recommend washing the grease filters with soap and water or in a dishwasher once a week or every other week. If you notice cooking odors, leave the filter running until they have been removed. Consider also any recent fluctuations in the temperature/weather. If it’s cold outside, there may be a higher level of ionization. With a proper ventilation system, cooking odors will be removed more quickly than during hot weather.
Conclusion: in cold weather, the hood can be left to recirculate the air for a shorter time than in hot weather.
The humidity level in my home has increased.
Is the building adequately ventilated? The moisture in your kitchen passes through the filter and is returned to the room. We recommend increasing ventilation in the kitchen, e.g. by opening a window, to improve the interior climate. New homes normally have an efficient CMRV or mechanical extraction type ventilation system.
There are no cooking odors in the kitchen but they are perceptible in other rooms
There is a logical explanation for this. The filter cleans the air in the room in which it is located. Odor-laden air that spreads to other rooms cannot be purified. We recommend closing the kitchen door or, for open space kitchens, closing the doors leading to other rooms.
There’s no air coming from my cooker hood
First check if there are air vents in the flue so the air can return to the kitchen. Make sure the cooker hood is connected correctly. Check that all settings are operating correctly and that the motor is running. Inspect the unit to see whether the check valve has been removed. Sometimes the check valve is not removed from the hood, so air cannot pass through the valve pressed against the filter and the valve does not open. If the valve is still present, remove it.

Cleaning and maintenance
How can I clean the cooker hood?
Cooker hoods should be cleaned with a PH neutral product, warm water and a non-abrasive sponge.
Traces of oxidation/rust have appeared on my hood.
The presence of oxidation or rust on the steel surfaces of the hood is always caused by external objects or agents that damage the appliance surfaces. To prevent this problem, the hood should be cleaned with warm water and neutral soap regularly and anyway after each use, making sure the surfaces are then dried carefully.
How often should the metal grease filters be washed?
The metal grease filters should be washed at least once a month in hot water and detergent (or in a dishwasher). The grease filters collect highly flammable grease from cooking fumes so inadequately cleaned filters are a fire hazard. The filters may become discolored after repeated washing. This is normal and does not mean that the filters must be replaced.
How often should the metal grease filters be washed?
The plasma filters in the hood do not need changing or servicing throughout the lifetime of the cooker hood.
Call the service center only if the hood is unable to remove cooking odors or if it emits an unusual garlic-like odor.
I need the instructions for a model that is not present on the Galvamet website
To request the Instruction manual of a model not present on the website, send an email quoting the product code number and the year/week of production. The information in question can be found printed on an adhesive label inside the hood. If the information on the label is illegible, send in some photos of your appliance.
I need technical support, who should I call?
Refer to the Galvamet Service Centers section to find your nearest service center. Galvamet never directly sells the components required to repair its products.
Where can I find the product code and the week and year of production?
The product code and week and year of production are shown on the silver label affixed to the inside wall of the appliance.
